HIV/STD Outreach and Maintenance
Many of us find some subjects difficult to talk about. If we don’t speak of them, they won’t be real, or they may go away on their own. But conditions like HIV and STDs don’t go away. With treatment they can be cured and managed — without it, they will take a heavy toll. As difficult as it may be, the first step is to talk about these conditions, so that we can proceed to testing, caring for and, when possible, curing. Together, we can reduce their impact on our community and on you.

As Native Americans, our community is not immune to HIV and STDs. To protect ourselves and our families, OKCIC offers testing, treatment and counseling services.

Testing for these conditions is only the first step. For STDs we offer counseling and follow-up treatment. We also provide classes on prevention.

For HIV we offer counseling before and after the test. We also offer many forms of education about prevention and living with the disease. Most important, we are the first stop for referral to outside agencies that provide medicine and social services for those living with HIV and their families.

Talking, acknowledging and learning are the first steps in preventing HIV and STDs. Not many words, but important ones. For your health — for our people’s health — for community’s health, let’s talk.
