The OKC Thunder player D.J. White visited the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic on February 22, 2010 and read a storybook to a group of 80 children who were gathered in the front lobby of the Clinic. D.J. was able to make this visit to the Clinic as a representative of the Thunder's "Read to Achieve" program. The children listened attentively and were pleased to each receive a free book provided to them by the national "Reach Out and Read" program. Apple dippers were provided to the group courtesy of Santiago/Brennen McDonalds.
The Clinic routinely participates in the national "Reach Out and Read" program which promotes early literacy and school readiness by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud to their child. Susan Geary, LPN is the contact for this program at 405 948 4900 ext 213.
Thank You, Thunder!
