When you walk in our door, you are not just a patient. You are a family member – a sick brother; a hurting sister; an honorable elder; a precious child. We understand your heritage and the challenges you face as an American Indian living in an urban area – they are the same challenges we face every day. American Indians are fighting many dangers in the world. One in three of our young children is obese. Too many of us are dying from Diabetes. Our youths live in an often harsh and dishonorable world. Many of our elders, and those who care for them, suffer from caregiver burnout and lack of good medical care. At OKCIC, we work every day to change these and other concerns within our community – with innovative healthcare, services and programs. Last year, we served more than 20,000 people, and we estimate about half of the American Indians living in Oklahoma City rely on our services. Even with the large volume of people that come through our doors seeking help, our staff continues to work very hard on behalf of those we are honored to assist. Our Board of Directors provides wisdom and leadership. Our generous donors give their money and time. All of us are working together to ensure a strong, healthy Indian people. I look forward to see you soon at the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic. RSA |
