Oklahoma City Indian Clinic awarded a grant from the Inasmuch Foundation

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit clinic providing health and wellness services to American Indians in central Oklahoma, was awarded a $150,000 grant from the Inasmuch Foundation in November of 2017 to support Phase II of OKCIC’s CARES Capital Campaign.

Grants from Inasmuch Foundation were awarded to 53 organizations serving Oklahoma communities. Inasmuch Foundation, founded by Edith Kinney Gaylord in 1982, supports education, health and human services and community enhancement initiatives that enrich the quality of life for Oklahomans.

“Inasmuch Foundation invests in organizations that effect the greatest positive outcome for Oklahomans,” Robyn Sunday-Allen said, CEO of OKCIC. “Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is thankful to be a recipient of this generous grant.”

American Indian women have the highest death rate from breast cancer of any race, primarily because of late diagnosis. Since 2004, OKCIC has sought to reduce barriers to care and remove the cultural stigma of breast cancer with the launch of our Pink Glory Breast Care initiative. Phase II of OKCIC’s CARES Capital Campaign supports expanding women’s health services, including adding in-house digital mammography equipment. Purchasing this equipment provides OKCIC patients privacy and convenience by giving them daily access to life-saving screenings, extended hours and more appointment availability.
