Paying For Your Prescription Medicines with OKCIC

There are several plans that can help you pay for your prescription medicines.

Medicare Part-D

This program covers prescription drugs for patients who receive Medicare. Part-D is an optional Medicare plan and you must sign up for this plan between November 15th and December 31th each calendar year.  Your new plan will go into effect on January 1st of the following year.

While some people may have to pay for Part-D coverage, most of our clinic patients do not. If you receive Medicaid along with Medicare, or the State of Oklahoma pays your Medicare premiums, you automatically qualify for free Part-D coverage. This plan covers most prescriptions in full, though there may be a small co-payment for some medications.

Extra Help

Extra Help is available for single patients who make less than $1,353 per month, or couples that earn less than $1,821 a month to help pay for a Medicare Part D plan.  Extra Help is offered through the Social Security Administration and OKCIC staff will help you with the application process.

SoonerCare

SoonerCare covers medication expenses for children and those who do not qualify under other plans.

Even if you do not meet the above criteria, there are many other programs that help to pay for prescription drugs. Some of these are special programs offered by the drug makers themselves, to assist those who need new or special drugs which would otherwise be unaffordable. For help, please call (405) 948-4900, ext. 159.
