Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage

The Medicare Part-D Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) begins November 15, 2006 and participants may evaluate their coverage and change plans if necessary. This enrollment period will last until December 31, 2006 and changes will go into effect January 1, 2007. Medicare beneficiaries who are not currently enrolled in a prescription drug plan will have the opportunity to enroll during this time. We can help you decide which plan is right for you and we can help you determine if you are eligible to receive this coverage at little or no cost to you.

Do you fit into any of the following categories?

· If you receive Medicaid in addition to Medicare or the State pays for your Medicare premiums, you automatically qualify to receive the coverage with no monthly premium or annual deductible. We can help you compare plans to ensure you are enrolled in the plan that best meets your prescription needs.

· If your income is less than $1,226/month if single or $1,651/month for a couple, you may be eligible to receive “Extra Help” through the Social Security Administration to help pay for monthly premiums and annual deductibles. We can help you with the application process. If you qualify for Extra Help, the clinic can receive reimbursement for prescriptions you have filled at the clinic pharmacy.

· If you are not on Medicaid or your income is over the amount to receive “Extra Help” you still might benefit from Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage if you have to buy prescriptions (that we do not supply) at a retail pharmacy. We can search the Medicare website for plan options that could save you money.

If any of these categories fit your current situation or you have questions about what you should do, please contact Robin Parker in the OKC Indian Clinic Pharmacy for further assistance. (405) 948-4900 ext. 249. She will be happy to assist you or answer any questions that you may have about the program.
