WIC (Women, Infants and Children)
The WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program started in 1974 and serves over 7.3 million people nationally each month. Though not formally part of the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic, we share office space with the WIC program.  They are located at 210 South Quadrum Drive OKC, OK 73108 (near Reno and Portland). The WIC Program works in tandem with the Clinic to provide important services this very specialized group needing care -- women, infants and children.

WIC is a program designed to:

  • Encourage better prenatal care for women and regular medical care for children;
  • Improve dietary intake of pregnant women and children;
  • Reduce the incidence of anemia in children;
  • Improve the growth of at-risk infants and children;
  • Reduce the incidence of low birth weight babies.

To succeed at this, WIC offers supplemental food; like infant formula, milk, cheese, juice, eggs and other healthy basics. They also provide valuable nutrition education, to help families make better food choices.

The program is designed for low income mothers and children. If you receive food stamps, Medicaid or TANF, you probably qualify. Contact the clinic advisor at (405) 605-4WIC (605-4942) to enroll in this important program.
