At OKCIC we provide health care for women through a number of programs. Your health care advisor will guide you to the correct screening procedures and tests for your age and health condition. Some of the services we offer are described below. PAP Smears: These test for cervical changes and abnormal growths. Early diagnosis is the key to treating problems like cervical cancer and other ailments that affect the uterus. When found early, cervical cancer is treatable 92% percent of the time. Testing is the key to success. Our public health nurse works closely with patients who have abnormal PAP smears, to ensure proper treatment is administered. Breast Health: OKCIC provides 2 fulltime nurse/case managers through a grant funded by the Central Oklahoma Affiliate of Komen for the Cure, whose only job is to promote breast health and education for women. We want you to have the knowledge and support needed to be healthy and continue to stay healthy. The Mobile Mammogram Van visits OKCIC three times a month. Annual mammograms are free for women over 40, and younger women with a doctor’s referral. Like other forms of cancer and tumors, early detection makes all the difference in outcomes. Early detection results in the best chance of a cure. The Breast Care Program knows living with breast cancer and treatment can be trying and difficult. We want you to know that you are not alone in your struggle. To help you through this time, we come together as a community once a month with a Breast Cancer Support Group. To be part of this vital community organization, contact the Breast Care Coordinator, for current dates and times. Women who are pregnant or nursing: You may be eligible for enrollment in WIC. This program is designed to ensure good health for women and infants, through nutrition, education, and good pre-natal and post-natal care. It’s all about giving our future community a good start in life.
